I had my heart set on a
RinTin Tin. Then one day I was introduced to a bundle of white fluff.
I had to have him and eventually I did.
He went on to become Ch Kalina Imperial Luna. A dog of great presence
and a lot of attitude.
He was soon followed by Ch Ladara Fair Zaminka and Ch Kalina Fair Zala
and Mezen Kennels was born.
Thirty years later I
have not lost any of my passion for the breed.
My children were introduced to the dogs as soon as we got home from the
hospital and now, after spending two years in Kentucky working with
Thoroughbreds, my oldest daughter Kate has joined me as a partner in the
kennels.
Kate also imported a “Mike” from Kentucky and he will be forming part of
the team, (especially helpful with the heavy lifting), helping with the
conditioning of the dogs and also some handling duties.
We moved to our current
property in 1983 where on twelve acres in a then semi-rural Diamond
Creek there was room for the growing number of dogs and the children to
grow up in a wonderful environment with their ponies and other pets.
Kate and I are both
passionate about the breeding side of the dogs and spend many hours
discussing the merits of matings and studying the pedigrees, including
the use of the crystal ball on how the resulting litters may turn out.
We are committed to
breeding typical Samoyed with the soundness of mind and body to go into
homes where they can be ambassadors for all that is special about this
breed - and we are also very proud of the ones that have done well in
the show ring.
